BASIC CONDITIONS FOR ADAPTATION

Throttle self-adaptation or basic setting is typically required when:

• Battery power has been disconnected
• The throttle body has been removed or replaced
• The engine or engine control unit has been replaced

Typical basic setting conditions include:

• All electrical loads switched off
• Coolant temperature above approximately 80 °C
• Battery voltage above approximately 11 V
• Automatic gearbox in P (park) position
• Accelerator pedal not pressed during adaptation

GENERAL INSTALLATION GUIDELINES

The electronic throttle body is mounted on the intake manifold and controls intake air volume. Follow these general guidelines during replacement:

• Use appropriate tools (ratchet spanner, screwdriver, suitable clamps)
• Allow engine to cool before disconnecting any coolant hoses
• Do not damage the intake manifold flange surface
• Protect electrical connectors from water and contaminants
• Do not reuse a throttle body that has visible impact or collision damage

During installation:

• Clean the mating flange and install a new seal ring or gasket
• Tighten mounting bolts in a cross pattern to approximately 8–10 Nm
• Reconnect all plugs, intake ducting, coolant hoses and vacuum lines securely
• Turn the ignition to ON (engine off) for around 30 seconds to allow self-learning
• Start the engine and let it idle for 3–5 minutes, then check for leaks and warning lights

If any fault codes or irregular idle remain after installation, repeat the adaptation procedure or consult a qualified technician.
